Anniversary “Babymoon” in Seattle

My sweetheart and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage next month.  Originally we thought that might be a perfect time, now that our kids are just old enough to enjoy sleepovers with grandma and grandpa, to sneak away for a long weekend away somewhere.  But then of course we got news of the imminent little one, and so our plans changed (because an anniversary getaway with a 6-week-old just isn’t quite the same).  We decided to celebrate with a couple of days “staycationing” right in our own beloved Seattle, a few months shy from our 10th anniversary back in February.  At 8 months pregnant, getting around was still a little difficult, but we had a wonderful time!   You will quickly see that Todd and I tend to enjoy eating and sight-seeing (in that order) on our trips.  We walked all over the city, snacked along the way, and had a great time… even if my feet were pretty swollen by day 2.  Here are some highlights!

the view from our hotel room included Seattle’s Public Library (iphone)

some architectural detail of the Seattle Library. In the mornings, window washers were perched high above cleaning all the glass.

And if we turned the other way from our room, we could see CenturyLink field in the distance and Mars Hills Church below. (iphone pic)

fresh produce available at the Market

love the vibrant colors of the market and the delicious fruit smells (the fish smells–not so much)

Had breakfast at Tom Douglas’s Seatown (iphone)

Orange French Toast from Seatown–delicious but rich… I convinced my honey to share this and the crab and egg sandwich so we could each have a bit of both. (iphone)

Seatown’s crab and egg sandwich–yum! Can you tell I’m rather food-driven? (iphone)

We did a TON of walking… and being 8 months pregnant and seeing stairs to climb like this did make me cringe a bit.

all that walking surely earned me a coffee, right?
